Some people blog just to make money. I for one, blog for fun, to get my opinions out, and to meet and interact with new people in the Blogosphere. However, make money on the side isn’t that much of a bad thing, so I decided to try PayPerPost. It was recommended to me by many other successful bloggers so I decided to try them out.
The name basically sums it up; you write a post about something, and you get paid for it. The good thing about PayPerPost is that you can select what posts you want to write about, so you if your blog keeps a certain style or topic you won’t have to stray far from that. Writing about unicorns on a non-fictional political blog would just be weird, wouldn’t it? It is good that PayPerPost gives you a wide variety and the freedom to choose what you want to write about.
After you sign up and your blog is verified, you can browse the opportunities and select which one you want to write about. After selecting one of their new and wide variety of topics there are to choose from and posting about it on your blog, your PayPal is immediately credited and that is that. The layout and design of the site mixed with PayPerPost’s quality service makes for an overall great experience.
Whether you have a new blog, or a blog that is in need of some good content, I recommend you check them out. They are the best “PPP” program out there, and if you want to blog for cash, or need some extra dough for gas, I recommend that they try them out today.

Today I went to see The Modern Skirts at AthFest 2008, and had a really great time. I hadn’t heard much of the Modern Skirts before, but they were tonight’s main act and they put on a unique and entertaining show. Their keyboardist was insanely good, running around stage switching instruments and banging on the keyboard. The singer was really good as well, and to me he sounded a bit like John Linnell from They Might Be Giants.

Afterwards we went to a local Waffle House and found it dead empty. The nice as usual waitress in there said that we were the first customers all night. This was obviously due to the fact that everyone was still Downtown partying in the bars and eating at the restaurants closer to there, but it was very eerily familiar to our Six Flags Trip. Even though we all know Waffle House makes a killing in profits on a yearly basis, are music festivals and big local events such as AthFest bad for business out of the central town? Good thing it is only a few nights of the year, or businesses on the outskirts of the city might start to hurt.

If you downloaded Firefox on Download Day (6/17/2008), then you can go here to claim your certificate as well. Here is mine, in all of its shiny glory:

There is no real way for them to check to see if you really did download it, since putting in fake names works as well. But if you didn’t download it on the World Record Setting day, and you download yourself a cirtificate, the internet fairies may make it difficult for you to sleep at night. Just a warning.

After an embarrassing attempt to launch without any support from the record industries in the recent past, QTrax is trying once more to launch today, supposedly offering millions of free and legal P2P music tracks for our listening pleasure.
If you download the client, which is based off of the Mozilla based Songbird, you are able to register for a Qtrax account and receive this very exciting message:
We are in process of updating Qtrax with a new version and will be back by 2.00 PM EST. You can browse the site during this time but will not be able to login or register. Thank you for your patience.
If this is indeed true, then Qtrax is right around the corner, today, and we will hopefully soon have access to their huge catalog. More updates as they happen.
Update 2:00 PM EST -
We are in process of updating Qtrax with a new version and will be back by 4.00 PM EST. You can browse the site during this time but will not be able to login or register. Thank you for your patience.
Update 8:23 EST - Things seem to be going smoothly and you can now download songs. I downloaded a few and had a security error. If you are getting the error also, or if your songs are simply not playing click here (Internet Explorer only unfortunately) and it should be resolved. Everything is pretty cool and fast but most of the songs (like Bright Eyes) still say “coming soon”. Definitely worth a check out.

Mary from the Official Firefox Download Day blog has just posted this:
Hi all: Download Day starts on June 17th at 10 a.m. PDT. Check this out for local times: http://tinyurl.com/4e7fv5
This should answer most of your questions, and it’s really not that far off. This post will be updated when that time comes and I indeed download it. If you haven’t pledged, please do so now, and we can all help Firefox 3 be the most downloaded software in 24 hours!
1:23 PM EST - Firefox 3 was supposed to launch 23 minutes ago, but it seems as if their beloved servers are down due to the high demand. I had a hunch that this would happen.
